Ocean Moonwillow has a gift she never asked for and a drinking problem she never quite solved. Making ends meet as a fraudulent fortune teller in a city full of grieving people, she keeps the dead at arm's length and the living even further.

When her ex, Marcus, shows up at her door convinced his new home is haunted, Ocean wants nothing to do with him, his skeptical doctor fiancée, or the house that took his mother.

But the darkness inside that house is unlike anything Ocean has ever encountered. What begins as a reluctant favor unravels into something ancient and predatory, something that doesn't haunt places but marks souls.

As Ocean digs deeper, crossing into death itself to find answers, she uncovers a betrayal at the heart of the household and an evil that has been fed by grief, desperation, and blind faith.
